Il WCW World Tag Team Championship è stato un titolo di wrestling riservato alla divisione tag team di proprietà della World Championship Wrestling in seguito della World Wrestling Federation.

Storia[modifica | modifica wikitesto]

Il titolo nacque come titolo di coppia della National Wrestling Alliance e di fatto aveva il nome NWA World Tag Team Championship ed i Wrecking Crew (Greg ed Ole Anderson) furono i campioni inaugurali. Il titolo rimase tale fino agli anni novanta, quando Ted Turner acquistò la Jim Crockett Promotions per rinominarla World Championship Wrestling. La NWA non riconobbe più i regni del titolo da quel momento.

A marzo 2001, la WCW fu acquistata dalla WWF e con essa il titolo ed i suoi detentori, Sean O'Haire e Chuck Palumbo. I due persero il titolo contro i Brothers of Destruction in un'edizione di Smackdown! portando il titolo in WWF.
Alle Survivor Series del 2001 e dopo aver vinto uno Steel cage match i Dudley Boyz lo unificarono al WWF Tag Team Championship ed a seguito dell'unificazione il titolo WCW fu ritirato.

Dal 17 gennaio 2008, la NWA riconosce i regni del WCW Tag Team Championship fino all'unificazione.
