Il WWE Tag Team Championship è il titolo per la categoria Tag Team della WWE, federazione statunitense di wrestling.
Storia
Il WWE Tag Team Championship è il titolo di coppia più recente della WWE. Quello più antico è l'ormai soppresso WWE World Tag Team Championship. Dopo la divisione del roster WWE in due, tutti i titoli dovevano essere divisi fra i due nuovi roster SmackDown e Raw. Inizialmente gli allora campioni di coppia, chiamati WWE Tag Team Championship, Billy Gunn e Chuck Palumbo, apparivano solo a SmackDown. Quando gli Un-Americans (Lance Storm e Christian) sono diventati campioni, il titolo divenne un'esclusiva del roster di Raw. Poco dopo il General Manager di SmackDown Stephanie McMahon creò una nuova cintura di coppia Tag Team esclusivamente per SmackDown, inizialmente chiamata SmackDown Tag Team Championship. I titoli vennero messi in palio per la prima volta in un torneo a No Mercy 2002 che vide trionfare Kurt Angle e Chris Benoit. Successivamente i titoli di coppia di SmackDown vennero rinominati WWE Tag Team Championship, mentre i titoli di coppia di Raw World Tag Team Championship. Il match di WrestleMania XXV ha unificato i due titoli di coppia della WWE, creando un solo titolo chiamato Unified WWE Tag Team Championship, però mantenendo tutte e 4 le cinture. Nella puntata del 16 agosto 2010 il misterioso General Manager di Raw decide di togliere dalla WWE i titoli unificati di coppia per sostituirli con un solo paio di cinture rinominate WWE Tag Team Championship, ciò significa che le due vecchie cinture di coppia vengono ritirate ufficialmente.
Campioni attuali
Gli attuali campioni sono lo Shield (Seth Rollins e Roman Reigns), che sono al loro primo regno come team e individualmente. Hanno sconfitto il Team Hell No (Kane e Daniel Bryan) il 19 maggio 2013 in St. Lous, Missouri a Extreme Rules.
