Gli Scooter sono una band tedesca di genere techno che ha venduto oltre 30 milioni di dischi. Attualmente il gruppo è composto da H.P. Baxxter (Hans-Peter Geerdes), Rick J. Jordan (Hendrik Stedler), Michael Simon, e da Jens Thele in veste di produttore. Le loro hits sono RAMP! (The Logical Song), Hyper Hyper, Fire!, How Much Is The Fish?, Nessaja, Weekend! Hello! (Good to be Back) e Jumping all over the world.

Il gruppo nacque come progetto nel 1994. Il loro singolo di debutto fu Vallée De Larmes che raggiunse l'ottava posizione nella classifica dance tedesca. Nell'aprile dello stesso anno, gli Scooter suonarono il loro primo live show ad Amburgo, in Germania, dove H.P. Baxxter cantò con uno stile rap sopra una traccia dance. A questo punto gli Scooter diventarono ufficialmente un gruppo e il rap di Baxxter divenne un marchio di fabbrica della stessa band.
Nel 1998 gli Scooter parteciparono al "Bravo All Stars" con il singolo "Let The Music Heal Your Soul" in collaborazione con: Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync, Pappa Bear, Aaron Carter, Andreas Biber, Sash!, Squeezer, Scott Moffat, Gil Ofarim, Brian Littrell, Blumchen, The Boyz, 4the cause, Kisha, Daniel Hall, R'G'N, DJ Bobo, 2-4 Family.
Nel 2002 gli Scooter ritornarono con 6 singoli (RAMP! (The Logical Song), Nessaja, Posse (I Need You On The Floor), Weekend!, The Night, e Maria (I Like It Loud)) che rimasero nella Top 20 inglese per oltre 18 mesi.
Hanno un proprio stile di techno, molte delle loro canzoni hanno un "rap urlato", a volte una voce alta, che si sente ad esempio nel loro successo RAMP! (The logical song) (che riprende The logical song di Supertramp). Gran parte della loro musica è composta da elementi live, come il rumore della folla e l'eco nella voce di H.P. Lo stile degli Scooter può apparire simile a quello dei KLF, specialmente nella traccia Posse! (I need you on the floor), con un campionamento che ricorre in tutto il lavoro dei KLF. Entrambe le band hanno pubblicato un singolo dal titolo Fuck the Millennium: i KLF nel 1997 sotto lo pseudonimo di 2k, gli Scooter nel 1999.
Il 9 settembre 2005, gli Scooter hanno suonato per la prima volta in Nord America, nell'Allstate Arena di Chicago, supportati da Dj Markski (Chicago), Dj Erikk, Aquagen, e Benassi Bros. Proprio in quella occasione l'ultimo singolo Hello! (Good To Be Back) fu suonato per la prima volta di fronte a un pubblico.
Nel 2006 gli Scooter hanno lanciato il Who's Got The Last Laugh Now? Tour 2006, intitolato come il loro ultimo album. Dopo il tour hanno pubblicato un CD e un doppio DVD chiamato Excess All Areas, contenente l'ultimo concerto del 2006 e i videoclip di ogni singolo.
Il 14 agosto 2006 è stato annunciato che Jay Frog ha deciso di lasciare la band e di continuare da solo la sua carriera musicale. È stato sostituito da Michael Simon che ha debuttato per la prima volta in Svizzera al Tufertschwil Open Air il 19 agosto.
Il singolo Behind The Cow ha debuttato al The Dome 40 a Düsseldorf il 1º dicembre 2006 ed è stato pubblicato il 19 gennaio 2007. La canzone e il testo sono basati sul pezzo dei KLF What Time Is Love?. Il video è stato girato in India e vi compare il rapper Fatman Scoop. L'album The Ultimate Aural Orgasm, il primo con Michael Simon, è stato pubblicato il 9 febbraio 2007.
Il 30 novembre 2007 debutta l'ultimo album dal titolo Jumping All Over The World da cui vengono estratti i singoli Jumping All Over The World il 1º febbraio 2008 ed I'm Lonely il 18 aprile 2008. I'm Lonely entra nella Top Ten tedesca al nono posto facendo arrivare per ben 22 volte gli Scooter tra i primi 10 classificati. È un record che nessuna band tedesca aveva mai raggiunto finora. In Inghilterra, con l'album Jumping All Over The World, gli Scooter vanno al primo posto in classifica e arrivano addirittura a superare Madonna. Successivamente, nel mese di ottobre del 2008, esce il singolo inedito Jump That Rock (Whatever You Want), versione techno dello storico brano Whatever You Want, classico da discoteca del 1979 della rock band inglese Status Quo, che preannuncia l'uscita di una maxi-edition (2 CD + DVD) dell'album Jumping All Over The World intitolata Jumping All Over The World - Whatever You Want.
È stato preannunciato nel mese di luglio 2009 sul sito ufficiale della band l'uscita di Under the Radar Over the Top, il nuovo album di inediti previsto per il 2 ottobre. L'album contiene J'adore hardcore, il singolo pubblicato alla fine di agosto. Nel secondo singolo estratto dal titolo Ti sento ha collaborato Antonella Ruggiero. Nel mese di novembre è uscito il terzo singolo estratto dall'album, The sound above my hair. Per questo singolo è stato realizzato anche un videoclip dalla durata maggiore della canzone come è già successo con i due singoli precedenti.
Il 12 marzo è uscito il quarto singolo, Stuck on replay. Il brano sarà anche la canzone ufficiale dei campionati del mondo di hockey su ghiaccio. Il 7 maggio uscirà il DVD del concerto dal vivo eseguito ad Amburgo infatti si chiamerà Live in Hamburg.
Finalmente il 20 maggio 2011 esce il primo singolo The only one tratto dal nuovo album The big mash up
