Gli intrusi a palazzo (Rogues in the House) è un racconto fantasy facente parte del ciclo di Conan il barbaro dello scrittore Robert E. Howard scritto nel gennaio del 1934. È uno dei primi racconti che vedono come protagonista Conan, in questa occasione ancora giovane e in cerca di avventure.

Edito in Italia con questo titolo a partire dal 1976, venne ripubblicato nel 1990 anche come Malfattori a palazzo.

"Rogues in the House" is one of the original short stories starring the fictional sword and sorcery hero Conan the Cimmerian, written by American author Robert E. Howard and first published in Weird Tales magazine in January 1934. It is set in the pseudo-historical Hyborian Age and concerns Conan inadvertently becoming involved in the struggle between two powerful men fighting for control of a city-state. It was the seventh Conan story Howard had published. It features a fight between Conan and an intelligent ape-like hominid.

Critica

In a January 1934 letter to H. P. Lovecraft, Clark Ashton Smith (discussing the January 1934 issue of Weird Tales) praised "Rogues in the House". Smith stated, "Conan, as usual, put on a very entertaining and imaginative show."

“Glad you like Rogues in the House. That was one of those yarns which seemed to write itself. I didn’t rewrite it even once. As I remember I only erased and changed one word in it, and then sent it in just as it was written. I had a splitting sick headache, too, when I wrote the first half, but that didn’t’ seem to affect my work any. I wish to thunder I could write with equal ease all the time. Ordinarily I revise even my Conan yarns once or twice, and other stuff I hammer out by main strength.”
