Richard Thorpe

Richard Thorpe, nato Rollo Smolt Thorpe (Hutchinson, 24 febbraio 1896 – Palm Springs, 1 maggio 1991), è stato un regista statunitense.

Si ritirò dal cinema nel 1967, al termine del suo ultimo film, dopo essere stato uno dei registi più prolifici di Hollywood.

Biografia

Nato nel 1896 ad Hutchinson, nel Kansas, cominciò la sua carriera artistica nel vaudeville e sui palcoscenici teatrali. Nel 1921, esordì come attore cinematografico, iniziando una carriera che lo avrebbe poi portato dietro la macchina da presa. Nel 1923, diresse il suo primo film.

Premi e Riconoscimenti

Per il suo contributo all'industria cinematografica statunitense, gli è stata assegnata una stella nella Hollywood Walk of Fame sull'Hollywood Blvd.
