Il campionato mondiale Supersport 2024 è stata la ventiseiesima edizione del campionato mondiale Supersport.
Stagione
[modifica | modifica wikitesto]Per quanto concerne i regolamenti, la novità più significativa sta nell'assegnazione della griglia di partenza per gara due in ogni Gran Premio. Durante la seconda prova i piloti non si schierano più col tempo ottenuto nelle qualifiche ma, per le prime nove posizioni,[1] in base alle prestazioni sul giro in gara uno: il pilota che ottiene il giro più veloce in gara uno parte al primo posto, chi ottiene il secondo miglior giro parte secondo e così via.[2] È inoltre prevista l'introduzione di un Kit Racing (per quanto concerne la componentistica) dal prezzo fisso di 1000€ e l'utilizzo di carburante sostenibile al 40% (analogamente al mondiale Superbike).[3][1]
Tra i costruttori quest'annata vede l'esordio di QJ Motor, costruttore cinese che mette in pista un'unica SRK 800 affidata a Raffaele De Rosa, esperto della categoria con quasi 150 partecipazioni.[4]
Ad inizio campionato Yari Montella, al secondo anno con Barni Racing, guida la classifica con due vittorie e due quarti posti. Con un strappo fatto di sei successi consecutivi, il portacolori del team ufficiale Ducati Adrián Huertas si porta ampiamente al comando. Montella rimane il principale contendente al titolo (con sette vittorie stagionali) fino a gara due dell'Estoril dove un ritiro lo estromette dalla contesa. Si va così all'ultima gara, Jerez, con il solo Stefano Manzi rimasto con residue speranze di titolo. In questo frangente Huertas ottiene i punti necessari per conquistare il mondiale, a Manzi la vittoria delle due prove.[5] Lo spagnolo diviene il primo pilota della sua nazione a vincere il titolo nel mondiale Supersport; oltre che il primo ad aver vinto sia questo titolo che quello delle Supersport 300.[6]
Secondo titolo consecutivo quindi per Aruba.it Racing con Ducati che raddoppia anche nella classifica costruttori. Tra le squadre si conferma Ten Kate Racing Yamaha con Manzi e Glenn van Straalen, vincitore del Gran Premio di casa ad Assen.[7] La quinta edizione della World Supersport Challenge va a Simone Corsi del Team Renzi Corse, in sella ad una Panigale V2.[8]
Piloti partecipanti
[modifica | modifica wikitesto]Tutte le motociclette in competizione sono equipaggiate con pneumatici forniti dalla Pirelli. Insieme ai piloti che concorrono per il mondiale Supersport, vi sono alcuni piloti (indicati in tabella come piloti della "classe WSC") che concorrono per il world Supersport challenge.[9]
