I Pretty Things sono un gruppo rock inglese di Londra. La band ha sperimentato un R&B molto grezzo che ha influenzato molte importanti band degli anni '60, tra cui i Rolling Stones[1]. David Bowie ha reinterpretato due loro canzoni nell'album Pin Ups. Il nome del gruppo deriva dalla canzone Pretty Thing di Bo Diddley.
Le origini dei Pretty Things risiedono nei Little Boy Blue o Blue Boys, band composta da Dick Taylor, Keith Richards e Mick Jagger. Quando Brian Jones divenne il chitarrista della band, Taylor passò al basso e la band cambiò nome in Rolling Stones.
Taylor lasciò gli Stones alcuni mesi più tardi e incontrò Phil May; insieme a lui formò i Pretty Things[1].
Taylor suonava la chitarra, mentre May era la voce principale e suonava l'armonica a bocca. I due ingaggiarono Brian Pendleton come secondo chitarrista, John Stax al basso e Pete Kitley alla batteria, in seguito rimpiazzato da Viv Broughton e da Viv Prince.
