Harry Reems, pseudonimo di Herbert Streicher (New York, 27 agosto 1947 – Salt Lake City, 19 marzo 2013), è stato un attore pornografico statunitense, tra i più famosi degli anni settanta.

Harry Reems nacque come Herbert John Streicher[1] in una famiglia ebrea del Bronx, New York il 27 agosto 1947. Prestò servizio brevemente nella Marina degli Stati Uniti prima di intraprendere la carriera di attore, principalmente in teatri off-Broadway. Cercando un modo per mettersi in luce, agli inizi degli anni settanta iniziò ad apparire in dozzine di filmini amatoriali, spesso muti, in cui aveva un rapporto sessuale. Arriverà ad aver recitato in approssimativamente 140 film hard tra il 1971 e il 1989, anno del ritiro, con La vera gola profonda (Deep Throat, 1972) e Miss Jones (The Devil in Miss Jones, 1973) tra i più conosciuti insieme anche a Forced Entry (1973), Sex Wish (1976), Grafenberg Spot (1985), e Vergini corpi frementi (Ten Little Maidens, 1985).

Nel 1975 pubblicò le sue memorie, Here Comes Harry Reems, libro nel quale raccontava dettagliatamente i primi anni della sua esperienza come attore di film porno. L'attore è famoso anche per aver avuto un rapporto sessuale in un film con Traci Lords, quando ancora non si sapeva che era minorenne. Nel 1976 fece anche un'incursione nel cinema mainstream, prendendo parte alla produzione italiana Luna di miele in tre, commedia diretta da Carlo Vanzina con Renato Pozzetto, e nel film dello stesso anno Lettomania, con Carmen Villani.

Dopo anni di abusi di alcol e droghe, Harry riuscì a disintossicarsi nel 1989. Si sposò e si convertì al cristianesimo diventando un cosiddetto "cristiano rinato".[2] L'attore venne intervistato per il documentario del 2005 sulla realizzazione di Gola profonda, Inside Gola profonda. È morto nel 2013 a causa di un tumore al pancreas all'età di 65 anni.[3]

Per girare Gola profonda in Florida nel gennaio 1972 venne scritturato solo come figurante, ma siccome il regista non trovò nessuno per il ruolo di protagonista, successivamente lo scelse come attore principale. Fu pagato 250 dollari per un solo giorno di lavoro. L'attore non venne a conoscenza che il regista gli aveva cambiato il nome in "Harry Reems" fino a quando non vide il film.[4]

L'apparizione in Gola profonda lo portò ad essere arrestato dagli agenti dell‘FBI a New York nel giugno 1974,[5] con l'accusa di cospirazione nel distribuire materiale osceno. Fu incarcerato nell'aprile del 1976 insieme ad altri undici individui coinvolti nella realizzazione del film.[6] La sua incarcerazione fu revocata in appello nell'aprile 1977. La difesa di Harry Reems affermò che lui era il primo attore statunitense ad essere perseguito dal governo federale soltanto per essere apparso in un film. Quanto accaduto sollevò anche un considerevole supporto all'attore da parte di varie celebrità dello star system di Hollywood.[7] Alla fine venne assolto da tutte le accuse.
