The Essential Status Quo è il sesto album di raccolta del gruppo musicale britannico Status Quo, pubblicato il 1º gennaio 2001.
Si tratta di una tripla raccolta e comprende solo brani della band appartenenti agli anni '70 e '80, dall'album Piledriver del 1972 fino a Perfect Remedy del 1989.
Stranamente, la canzone Ain't complaining fu inclusa sia sul volume 1 che sul volume 3. Inoltre, non vennero inseriti molti dei pezzi di maggior successo della band (quali, ad es., Marguerita Time, Ol' Rag Blues, In the Army Now o Wild Side of Life), poiché il prodotto mirava a fornire una panoramica soddisfacente anche con riferimento a brani della band meno rinomati o commerciali.
Il primo volume, pur non entrando mai nelle classifiche inglesi, riuscì a mantenere nel tempo livelli di vendita costanti ed ottenne la certificazione di disco d'oro il 23/07/2013.[1] I tre dischi furono anche pubblicati tutti insieme in un unico box, anch'esso certificato disco d'oro il 31/01/2014.[1]
