A. Edward Sutherland

A. Edward Sutherland (Londra, 5 gennaio 1895 – Palm Springs, 31 dicembre 1973) è stato un regista e attore statunitense.

Biografia

Proveniva da una famiglia che lavorava al teatro, suo padre, Al Sutherland, era un produttore teatrale e sua madre si chiamava Julie Ring. Nipote di Blanche Ring e di Thomas Meighan. Come attore lavorò con Charlie Chaplin Si sposò due volte, la prima con Marjorie Daw (dal 1923 al 1925) e Louise Brooks (da luglio 1926 allo stesso mese di due anni dopo, nel 1928), non ebbe figli dalle due relazioni.
Sutherland diresse numerosi film a partire dagli anni '20 fino agli anni '50 e lavorò anche con il duo comico Laurel & Hardy per il film I diavoli volanti (1939).
