Translitteration/Elena Aleksandrovna Kostjukovič
[modifica wikitesto]Hello. it.wiki uses en:Scientific transliteration of Cyrillic (ru:Научная транслитерация кириллицы) as standard for every article. As different as this may be to what you are used to see, please take note of it. Thank you for your cooperation,--Korvettenkapitän_Prien (sala radio) 12:47, 31 mar 2022 (CEST)
- Hi. The person herself is against this transliteration, but what is more important the transliteration used by it.wiki does not comply with person's last name according to her Italian documents and on covers of her books published in Italy, which causes a lot of confusion in readers, journalists, and irritates the addressee of the article.
- I insist on using the transliteration accepted by the owner of the name, After all, you cannot prohibit Ilon Maks to call his baby whatever he wants, why it should be different here? --Klimin (msg) 13:07, 31 mar 2022 (CEST)
- I am personally sorry for the person, but I don't see how this can be an argument for an exception for a standard universally used here. What you are saying is applycable to every name written in cirillic. There may be room for discussion if the person has italian documents, but this must be discussed beforehand Discussioni Wikipedia:Biografie di persone viventi comes to mind. Do not reiterate the edits, they are, simply put, against it.wiki rules. Elena Kostioukovitch, note, is already a redirect to Elena Aleksandrovna Kostjukovič and we cannot have the article state a name differt of the one in the title.--Korvettenkapitän_Prien (sala radio) 13:21, 31 mar 2022 (CEST)
- The person DOES have Italian documents that say KOSTIOUKOVITCH, and a lot of books published in Italy under that real name. Moreover, the person is a linguist herself, and a literary translator who does not approve your transliteration system. As I said before, you better delete the page altogether than use the incorrectly transliterated name that causes confusion in users and irritates the person herself. --Klimin (msg) 13:28, 31 mar 2022 (CEST)
- It simply does not work this way. Everyone has the same "problem": Ian Nepomniachtchi/Jan Nepomnjaščij, Tatyana Shlykova/Tat'jana Šlykova and so on.... I encurage you to write in Discussioni Wikipedia:Biografie di persone viventi explaning the documents situation and see if there is consensus. As for deleting the page: well, no. "Funny" thing is, I personally disagree with this choice ("I" say Ian Nepomniachtchi) but wiki works on consensus of the comunity, not with personal preferences. --Korvettenkapitän_Prien (sala radio) 13:37, 31 mar 2022 (CEST)
- Scientific transliteration system is standard for every article. Trasliteration for documents adopts ICAO system, which is not a popular transliteration system towards Italian. What Ms. Kostjukovič likes is not our business at all, I am sure there are linguists who dislike Kostioukovitch. Scientific transliteration is part of Italian linguistic tradition. However, if she writes books (in Italian or in another language) with the pseudonym of Elena Kostioukovitch (which means Костиоуковитх for Italians), surely we should report this in the works section.--AVEMVNDI ✉ 15:05, 31 mar 2022 (CEST)
