Offerta die assistenza[modifica wikitesto]

Hallo, I am Kuk, and I do a lot of work on the respective article in the German (and sometimes in the English) wikipedia. My Italian allows me to understand some written texts but I can't write articles myself. I could offer you my assistance on this article by providing you a short and comprehensive info on personnell, organisation, equipment, and operations of the German Navy as of today. I also can answer probably most of your specific questions about the German Navy. You also can ask me in Italian, I will answer in English or German whatever you prefer. But I will only start writing if anybody is really interested and willing to transfer the information into the Italian article. Otherwise it would be a waste of time. Please contact me here or on my German user page. Best wishes,--Kuk (msg) 11:26, 21 ago 2009 (CEST)[rispondi]

@pigr8: Also here thank you for your answer on my German page. As indicated above I would like to provide the basic facts about the German Navy as of today so that the present stub can be expanded to a full article by others. I will give you an outline of the proposed text below. I will also update the pictures in the article as they are not really representative for the present navy.--Kuk (msg) 13:58, 22 ago 2009 (CEST)[rispondi]

Hallo Kuk, ich würde gerne an diese Seite mitarbeiten. Ich bin italienischer Muttersprachler und verfüge über gute Deutschkenntnisse. In Moment habe ich nicht so viele Zeit, bin trotzdem ansprechbar. --Ribbeck 20:04, 22 ago 2009 (CEST)[rispondi]
As promised, here I am. Tell us, about the scheme proposed up there, that seems very correct, how do you want to proceed? You said to be intentioned in translating the voice present in de.wiki? About pictures, the 3 present are not up to date, but should be recycled for the section History. The most interesting part is that about the Cold War, and the present mission on Somali waters, with Task Force 150. But, start as you like. --Pigr8 ...libertà é partecipazione! 00:25, 23 ago 2009 (CEST)[rispondi]

Fine, I will start today but afterwards I will make a break when I will not be able to be online for about two weeks, Then I will return to this article--Kuk (msg) 10:46, 23 ago 2009 (CEST)[rispondi]

Great, I see that you are quick! --Kuk (msg) 13:44, 23 ago 2009 (CEST)[rispondi]

So, I am back! Is there someone looking into this article presently? If yes I would continue with some more details.--Kuk (msg) 14:13, 5 set 2009 (CEST)[rispondi]

English text[modifica wikitesto]

General information, history[modifica wikitesto]

After ten years of total demilitarisation Western Germany joined NATO and started to rebuild a military defence structure in 1955. The first military personnell was commissioned on 11 november 1955, the 200th birthday of the Prussian defence reformer Scharnhorst. The three services, Army, Navy, Air Force, were officially founded 2 January 1956.

The new de:Bundesmarine, an always unofficial name (officially: Navy of the Federal Republik of Germany, Marine der Bundesrepublik Deutschland), was able to draw its first people and ships from different maritime services such as the Federal Border Protection Service (de:Bundesgrenzschutz) and forces under British and American control (de:British Baltic Fishery Protection Service, basically an espionage support service, and US-led Labor Service Unit "B"/ LSU B, a technical maritime service with some own training system).

The task of the navy was to defend the Baltic Approaches, i.e. the Danish and German Baltic coasts and the Soviet access to the North Sea against Warsaw Pact amphibious attacks. Therefore, the focus was on the Baltic, whre about two thirds of the forces were stationed. In the North Sea the Navy had to protect shipping routes to allow for Allied reinforcments and resupply of the Central European Front in case of war.

In this period the navy started with old equipment and ships bought from the Allies. Over the years it acquired more modern platforms and developed most modern systems for the special requirements of litoral warfare in the Baltic Approaches. At the end of the Cold War period the Navy had about 38.000 personnell, 200 ships and 200 aircraft.

After the German reunification the Navy incorporated a very limited number of former Eastern German de:Volksmarine personnell, a few auxilliary ships, but no combattant vessels and no aircraft. According to the improved security situation in Europe the German Navy (this name came in use about 1995) was reduced in different steps to about 25.000, with 6000 of them serving in joint support structures of the Armed Forces, i.e. outside the organisation of the Navy.

Organisation[modifica wikitesto]

The German minister of defence is the commander-in-chief of the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) in peace time while this functions shifts to the chancellor once the state of defence has been officially declared. The chifes of the three classic services and the two supporting services (joint support service, joint medical servise) report to the minister of defence on matters of personnell and discipline and to the Chief of defence (CHOD, de:Genelralinspekteur der Bundeswehr) on all other issues. The service chiefs and their staffs are part of the ministry of defence (de:Bundesministerium der Verteidigung).

Top organisation: Naval Staff, Fleet Command, Naval Office[modifica wikitesto]

The Chief of the Navy (de:Inspekteur der Marine) in the rank of an viceadmiral (de: Vizeadmiral) is the head of the Navy and at the same time a department head in the ministry of defence. He is supported by the Naval staff (still located at Bonn at the old seat of the government). The head of the naval staff is a rear admiral (de: Konteradmiral) who is alo the deputy chief of the Navy. There are two subordinate commands in the Navy, the Fleet Command and the Naval Office.
