L'unica suddivisione amministrativa della Giamaica è la Parrocchia. Ognuna delle 14 parrocchie è formata da diversi centri abitati che hanno la seguente definizione in base al numero degli abitanti:

  • Città (city, pl. cities): insediamento con più di 75.000 abitanti al censimento del 2001
  • Cittadina (town, pl. towns): insediamento con una popolazione compresa tra 750 e 75.000 abitanti
  • Villaggio (village, pl. villages): insediamento con una popolazione inferiore ai 750 abitanti[1]
  • Località (hamlet, pl. hamlets): gruppo di case sparse
  • Quartiere (neighbourhood, pl. neighbourhoods): suddivisioni della capitale Kingston
