Inger Edelfeldt (Stoccolma, Svezia, 14 luglio 1956 ...) è una scrittrice e illustratrice svedese.

Edelfeldt è nata a Stoccolma nel 1956. Suo padre era un ingegnere e sua madre una casalinga. Suo padre le raccontava spesso delle storie, la mattina prima di andare a lavoro, ma soffriva di depressione e aveva subito dei trattamenti di elettroterapia. Le vicende familiari hanno avuto delle ripercussioni sulla giovane Edelfeldt, a scuola è stata bullizzata e ha sofferto di OCD (Disturbo ossessivo compulsivo).  Da adulta ha provato diverse terapie, finché non si è dedicata alla filosofia Zen e alla meditazione.[1]

Edelfeldt ha debuttato nel 1977 con il libro  Duktig pojke ("Bravo ragazzo").[2] Il protagonista del romanzo è Jim un ragazzo solitario e che eccelle a scuola. In un secondo momento l'autrice ha modificato il libro, trasformandolo in un libro per ragazzi. Il libro è considerato una dei primi romanzi che parla di coming out in Svezia.[3] Da allora ha scritto più di trenta libri, [4] la maggior parte sono romanzi, racconti, raccolte poetiche, fumetti e libri per bambini e ragazzi.[5] I romanzi per ragazzi di Edelfeldt spesso ruotano attorno a temi come l'identità e gli sforzi per liberarsi dalle costrizioni. Altri temi affrontati sono: la doppia natura dell'uomo, l'immagine riflessa nello specchio e il lato oscuro della vita, anche di una vita in apparenza bella. Scrive utilizzando diversi stili e generi tra cui satira, fiaba, opere teatrali ed è stata descritta come facile da leggere grazie al suo spiccato senso dell'umorismo. {{Citazione|"[Edelfeldt]...is a crossbreed between Astrid Lindgren and Franz Kafka."|Göran Hägg, docent in literary scienceErrore nelle note: </ref> di chiusura mancante per il marcatore <ref>

Nel 1995 è stata trasmessa nella televisione svedese la serie televisiva Nattens barn ("I bambini della notte"),[6] tratta dal romanzo per ragazzi Julliane och jag ("Juliane e me") scritto da Edelfeldt. La serie è stata diretta da Lisa Ohlin.[7]

Nel Luglio del 1990, Edelfeldt è stata ospite del famoso programma radio Sommar I P1.[8]
