Hi, I am user meta:user:Walter. I respectfully request this community to consider my following request; I write a newsletter about what is going on in the Wikimedia projects in all languages. It is my hope that every community, like the Italian language Wikipedia, has some people who read Wikizine. Then I can maybe receive some news from those readers about your project and in the other direction the can inform there community in your own language about the Wikimedia news possibly. I would like to ask this community to consider to include on some relavent pages a refference to Wikizine. Like a small banner or a textlink.
Pages where I think inclusion of a reference to Wikizine can fit are;
- this page, on the top of it
- Portale:Comunità
- a local announce or news page
If a banner or link is placed on the correct page the change then maybe someone here will think about Wikizine and report some local news. The change of that will increase highly I suspect. everymany issues of wikizine is already published in the Bar, as you will notice by looking for "wikizine" on the page. Actually the community news for italian wikipedia are published in the Wikipediano which is a sort of wikizine itself; I hope there will be many contributors to wikizine soon. - Yes, I know there is already attention for Wikizine on the it.wp So far I know this wiki is the one who is the most active in reporting news form wikizine of all the wikis. And I even have recieved some news back from there. I appreciates that a lot. I did not knew of Wikipediano. I will try to watch it and babelfish it. --WalterBE 23:03, 18 ago 2006 (CEST)
- Hi Walter, we use a template to summarise in Italian Wikizine news (yes, sometimes we are not so fast in translating, indeed...), and you can see it here (section of the Bar page) where I believe it is going to stay permanently, given the frequency of updates. We once included the whole mail report and often translated it all, but we had to reduce content to short titles only (in Italian) and link to wikizine.org, following a recent community's policy for a "lighter" Bar. However, I trust that we will soon be able to re-organize the archive and have a better way of collecting news so to be able to easily retrieve them. - I accept with pleasure your thanks. The see that people actually read it and find it useful makes me very happy. That is exactly why I do it; to get information spread over the projects and languages and if possible, also to receive some information form those projects back.
