Urumi

L'urumi (lingua malayalam ഉറുമി, hindi Aara, lingua tamil Surul pattai, letteralmente "spada arricciata") è una spada dell'India realizzata con dell'acciaio flessibile, abbastanza appuntita da penetrare la carne ma tanto flessibile da poter essere arrotolata in una stretta serpentina. L'arma è originaria della Kerala ed era molto diffusa nella costa settentrionale del Malabar. Dal Malabar, la spada urumi passò nel Rajasthan e nel Punjab.
La spada urumi è ancora utilizzata nelle arti marziali indiane, particolarmente nel Kalarippayattu e nel Gatka.
