Valerio Vecchietti (Bologna, June 22 1964) is an italian rally driver born at Bologna.


Vecchietti started his sport carrier when he was 5 years old with light athletics at “Dopolavoro Ferroviario di Bologna” club, performing in this field till he was 17 years old. He won 12 junior Italian titles.

Vecchietti won 12 national titles in light athletic and won 90 international competition. His performance in junior 110 obstacles category (at Foligno 1973) was not exceeded for 17 years.

During the period 1994 - 2004 Vecchietti proceed with skiing. As a bank employee he took part of “A” national “Banca Nazionale del Lavoro” sci team in specialty giant slalom, participating at the “Interbank European Championships” and “Absolute senior Italian championships”.

During the period 1984 – 1985, Vecchietti has participated at rally races with “Bologna Corse” team at co-pilot.

During the period 2004 – 2009, Vecchietti compete as director manager and race pilot at "European Touring Car Serie" - ETCS“  with Millenium Team and get relevant results.

In 2005 he won the vice-champion position during the "European Touring Car Serie" - ETCS“, SuperDiesel Challenge category class with Millenium Team.

In 2006 he won the European championship during the "European Touring Car Serie" - ETCS“, SuperDiesel Challenge category class with Millenium Team and first position in SuperDiesel Challenge, 24h hours special 3.0 category class.

In 2007 is classified in the 3rd position 200d class and 7th absolute position in general classification even if he participated to only 3 races, and win the championship as sport manager of Millenium Team.

In 2008 he won the second position in 3000d category class and sixth absolute position in general classification during the “European championship of tourism – ETCS” competing with only two races (first position at Misano circuit and second position at Imola circuit).

In 2009 he won the second position during the "European Touring Car Serie" - ETCS“ with only 3 races (he won the first position at Vallelunga, Misano and Monza circuit.

During 2005 – 2010 period he compete during some races at “Italian Tourism championship”, Mini “challenge championship” and “Fun cup championship”

During 2004 – 2006 he participated at first 3 editions 24h for Teethon. During the second edition he won the fastest time during the rally. In the third edition he won the 7th position in the general classification.

In December 2010 he participated during te RAI TV show together with Paolo Belli and Fabrizio Frizzi and won the first edition during the IRONMEN FOR TELETHON competition.

At the begining of 2000 he started as pilot racing with BMW Millenium Team::

In 2016 he was awarded the civic merit of the municipality of Anzola dell'Emilia city in Bologna county.

  • 2005 CONI award for the results achieved in motor racing.
  • 2009 he was entitled  as “Azzurro and Olympic champion of Italy (“Azzuro” is an Italian recognition title reserved to the athlete that performed in Olympic, European and world championships or other official manifestations of national teams).   [17].
  • In 2014 he was elected member of the Provincial Council of Bologna of Italian “azzuri” and Olympic athletes.
  • In 2014 he was the founder of Panathlon Alto Reno Club.
