Utrum is a rock band from Italy formed in 2016. It was founded by Gabriele Torcia (guitar), Jacopo Gaeta (keyboard), Matteo Di Tollo (bass), Piero Bonanni (guitar), Sara D'Angelo (voice) and Mattia Scioletti (drums). They released their first single "Welcome 1971" in 2020 and their second single "Darkest Nature" in 2021.

The band was formed in Lanciano, in 2016 and named after a latin word. The band started with covering famous rock songs like "Smoke on the Water" or "Time/Us and Them" and eventually started writing and recording original songs. At first the band was experimenting with psychedelic sounds inspired by "The Alan Parsons Project" and "Pink Floyd", the first tracks that the band wrote sound therefore like long instrumental suites with numerous guitar and keyboard solos but afterwards the sound of the band became more of a blend between Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. Utrum did a few gigs in their home town and suddenly blew up and became one of the most wanted bands in the country. They played in two shows in "Roma" and wrote 3 songs in a week in order to do that. This experience was so inspiring that all of their first singles were written in that week before the show. They are currently working on an album.
Musical Style[modifica | modifica wikitesto]
Inspired by glories of the past like "Guns N' Roses", "Deep Purple", "Motörhead" and modern rock artists among which "Kaleo", "Greta Van Fleet" and "Tyler Bryant", Utrum built a stunning combination of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal that seals a new era of vintage music. Their songs usually combine heavy guitar riffs with wide choruses and crazy solos, they also put a lot of attention in the live arrangements and performances in order to give the audience an unforgettable experience. Other inspirations could be found in Fusion since the band loves to create different sections and improvised sections in the original recordings, they even experimented with a modal solo in the song "Darkest Nature".
