Proposal for GoogleTrans gadget

Hi there,

Sorry about the English.

I have had a GoogleTrans gadget on the enwiki for almost a year now. If you position the cursor over a word and hit the SHIFT key it will popup the google translation of that word. It is like the google toolbar translation feature except that it will also handle selected text (< 500 characters). The gadget is currently running on 12 wikis.

The help page for the gadget is at:

There are instructions on how to port the gadget onto other wikis on the help page.

It is especially useful for intermediate learners of the language because they can quickly look up a word every 2 or 3 sentences. I use the tool to read French and Spanish webpage s this way. If you know no Italian (like me) you can simply select 2 or 3 sentences and have these translated. There is a Google link in each popup. If you click on this the entire page is translated.

Good luck with your itwiki. Anybody who is learning Italian by reading itwiki articles could benefit from this gadget.

Problema mw.util

Non si può piú usare mw.util impunemente, a pena di distruggere ogni funzionalità JavaScript degli utenti: phabricator:T122755#3220618. Molti accessori vi fanno affidamento e quindi conviene che lo dichiarino.
