Spanish shield?

José de Avilés, Marqués de Avilés in Ciencia heroyca, reducida a las leyes heráldicas del blasón (1725) comment that this shield was also widely used by Spanish nobility, in a way that seems that this shield could be called "Spanish shield". He didn't say it explicity, but Alberto and Arturo García Carraffa (Enciclopedia Heráldica Hispano-Americana p. 21, 1919), based on Avilés' work, did. Avilés also report the proportion 5:6 in a later version of his work (Alberto and Arturo do the same: p. 26). Of course, between the XIX and XX centuries, the name "(modern) French shield" earn much notoriety, but I think that this information could be in the article as a footnote. Confermo che anche i quattro volumi di araldica spagnoli che compaiono nella Bibliografia_sull'araldica#Testi_in_lingue_straniere affermano che lo scudo francese moderno è quello abitualmente usato nell'araldica spagnola insieme con lo Scudo spagnolo. --Massimop (msg) 23:29, 19 ago 2011 (CEST)
