I decided to analyse two completely different areas of Italy: Turin (for the heritage sites) and Riviera Romagnola. My choice was due to the fact that I was born in Turin and I had lived there until five years ago when I moved to Riccione. Moreover, I was part of 'Riviera Romagnola' group for the Tourism Think Tank and since I made many research on this topic I decided to contribute to its article on Wikipedia.

When I started my research I contacted the official website of the Borgo Medievale (http://www.borgomedievaletorino.it/) in order to ask them some questions about the site. They gave me the opportunity to include some information that are published on their official page for what the actual form of this heritage site looks like. As a consequence, I re-elaborated their text and sent it to the manager of the Borgo to get their approval before publishing it on the Wikipedia article.

In this page I decided to divide the section "Caratteristiche" into "Storia" and "Il Borgo", following the example of other similar Wikipedia pages. I thought it was better to divide them in order to let users find more easily the information they are searching for. After this, I edited the article by adding further information that I found inside the following sources:

-  "Merlini Carlo, Dopo Mezzo Secolo: L'Esposizione del 1884 e la costruzione del Borgo Medievale, in Rivista Mensile Municipale 1934, XII, n. 5”

- "Ghisi Filippo, Borgo medievale. Guida al borgo medievale di Torino, 2015, Editris 2000",

- "Chavarría Alexandra, Zucconi Guido, Medioevo Fantastico. L'invenzione di uno stile tra fine '800 e inizio '900, All’Insegna del Giglio, 2016"

For the photo, since Turin has participated to Wiki Loves Monuments including this heritage site in the list, I decided to upload a photo published during his project (

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Albero_scultoreo_in_fontana_-_Borgo_Medievale_di_Torino.jpg)

In this case I realised that the English page of this heritage site lacked of intertextual citations, therefore I made a research and found some English sources and added them since they can be helpful for potential English users:

- "Review of Storia del Teatro Regio di Torino. Vol. I: Il Teatro di Corte, Storia del Teatro Regio di Torino. Vol. II: Il Teatro della Cittá". Music & Letters. 59 (1): 76–78. ISSN 0027-4224."

- "History | Teatro Regio Torino. www.teatroregio.torino.it. Retrieved 2020-12-22." (from the official website)

- "ChrVillata (2020-03-18). "The Residences of the Royal House of Savoy – UNESCO". Queen of hearts, Turin apartment (in Italian). Retrieved 2020-12-22."

I also added some minor information.

At the beginning I wanted to contribute to the article of Riccione and I started my research by contacting the library of Riccione asking them for some advice about books related to this town. Moreover, I also contacted via email the Municipality asking them for past photos of the city, but unfortunately they didn't answer me. However, when I was going to edit Riccione's article I realised that the page was blocked because of an issue created by the users. Therefore, I decided to enrich Riviera Romagnola's article.

Thanks to the books the library of Riccione suggested me I managed to add some information in the 'History' section. The following are the sources from which I took the information:

- “Ferruccio Farina, Le Sirene dell’Adriatico 1850-1950. Riti e Miti balneari nei manifesti pubblicitari., Milano, Federico Motta Editore, 1995.”

- “Focaccia Marco, Di Somma Andrea, Analisi dello sviluppo turistico di Ravenna attraverso un sistema informativo geografico, in Atti 14a Conferenza Nazionale ASITA, Brescia 9-12 novembre 2010.”

Moreover, I added a paragraph for the 'Tourism' section based on the data provided by "Osservatorio del turismo dell'Emilia-Romagna", published on the official website of Emilia Romagna region.

In the section dedicated to culture I added two films that were recently shot in Riviera Romagna.

For the photo I added the one called 'Spiaggia di Riccione', which I took personally.

Since in the Riviera Romagnola's article on Wikipedia, in the section 'Tourism' the attractions are suggested to be moved on 'Wikivoyage' I realised that Wikivoyage page of Riviera Romagnola was pretty empty. Therefore, I also contributed to this one by adding 'Events' 'Attractions' 'local food', how to move and how to reach this area (I had already this information thanks both to my personal experience and the project we made for the Tourism Think Tank). After my editing, a user was really kind and corrected me some mistake with the layout.

I added also here some of my personal photos.

I contributed to the map of Riccione by adding the name of an hotel in which I worked, inserted the correct name of 'Piazzale Eugenio Curiel' and indicated two places that were not present.

  • For this project I was helped by the other members of the 'Riviera Romagnola' group of the Tourism Think Tank:

- Dell’Aglio Michela, Massara Martina, Messora Alessandra, Piana Sara and Ronning Gaia

They helped me by revisioning my editing and for any possible doubt and issue during my work.

  • For any articles I edited I have always described briefly what I did in the discussion page.
