South American Club Championship 1948 is not an official Conmebol competition but has been recognised by Conmebol as precursor to Libertadores by a book (1994) and by inclusion of Vasco da Gama in Supercopa 1997. The article is about not only official but also about recognised competitions, and though not official in its time, the 1948 competition fulfills the latter qualification (recognition).
