Berupa perisai dengan tulisan "Kota Magelang", dan di dalamnya berturut-turut padi 17 bulir, bambu runcing kembar beruas 4 (dan 5?), kapas 8 kuntum, bintang besar, paku (Gunung Tidar), dan helm tentara di atas buku. Lambang ditetapkan berdasarkan Perda 7 Tahun 2000 tentang Perubahan atas Peraturan Daerah Kotamadya Magelang Nomor 168 Tahun 1967.
