English: The nuclear waste repository at Yucca Mountain will sit inside a long ridge, approximately 1,000 feet beneath the surface and 1,000 feet above the water table. Consisting of 40 miles of tunnels, the repository will accommodate an estimated 77,000 tons of nuclear waste.
