Theodore Marston

Theodore Marston (Minnesota, 10 agosto 1868 – Los Angeles, 2 ottobre 1920) è stato un regista e sceneggiatore statunitense. Fu uno dei pionieri del cinema muto.

Biografia

Nato nel Minnesota, era chiamato familiarmente Teddy. Cominciò a lavorare per la Thanhouser Film Corporation, esordendo nella regia cinematografica con una trasposizione del romanzo Jane Eyre di Charlotte Bronte di cui aveva scritto anche la sceneggiatura. La maggior parte dei suoi primi film sono adattamenti di opere letterarie o teatrali, tra cui - con il suo David Copperfield del 1911 - anche la prima versione cinematografica del romanzo di Charles Dickens. Tra il 1910 e il 1919, Marston diresse settantasette film e ne sceneggiò diciannove.

Morì a Los Angeles a 52 anni, il 2 ottobre 1920.
