L'EP è stato registrato durante la performance live della band per MTV Unplugged ai Sony Music Studios a New York, il 13 maggio 2011. L'esibizione ha visto una partecipazione molto attiva del pubblico, che canta insieme alla band. Il cantante Jared Leto descrive così la performance[2]:
| « È stato un rito di passaggio, e se sei invitato agli MTV Unplugged è certamente un affare accettare. Molte delle nostre band preferite hanno partecipato a questi Unplugged, e tutt'ora lo fanno, perciò siamo stati veramente entusiasti quando abbiamo ricevuto l'invito. » |
