John Emerson

John Emerson, nato Clifton Paden (Sandusky, 29 maggio 1874 – Pasadena, 7 marzo 1956), è stato uno sceneggiatore e regista statunitense.

Biografia

Nato nell'Ohio, John Emerson iniziò la sua carriera cinematografica nel 1913 come sceneggiatore, collaborando in seguito spesso con la moglie Anita Loos che sposò il 15 giugno 1919.

Emerson continuò a scrivere soggetti e sceneggiature fino al 1938, alternando alla scrittura la recitazione e la regia. Diresse, infatti, anche 16 film, alcuni dei quali interpretati da Douglas Fairbanks. Girò pure con le sorelle Norma e Constance Talmadge. Nella sua carriera, il suo nome appare in 45 film come sceneggiatore, in undici come produttore e in otto come attore.

Si ritirò nel 1938, dopo aver contribuito alla sceneggiatura di La dama e il cowboy, un film interpretato da Gary Cooper e Merle Oberon.

Muore nel 1956 a Pasadena (California) a 81 anni.
