L'Irlanda partecipa fin dal 1965. Detiene il record assoluto di vittorie, ben sette. Inoltre è l'unico paese ad aver vinto per tre anni consecutivi nonché l'unico paese ad aver all'attivo due vittorie conquistate con lo stesso artista, Johnny Logan (tre vittorie come autore); un altro record lo detiene il Point Theatre di Dublino, che ha ospitato 3 volte l'evento (1994, 1995, 1997).
