Official logo of the Vietnamese Wikipedia from September 25, 2009, to 2010. The Vietnamese Wikipedia community agreed to replace File:Wikipedia-logo-vi, 2005-2009.png with this logo to address the antialiasing issue prominent on namespaces other than the main namespace. It was subsequently replaced by File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-vi.svg.

The wordmark and tagline Bách khoa toàn thư mở (“open encyclopedia”) are all set in Hoefler Text (with the tagline at 13 pt); however, the hook and horn diacritics were drawn by hand, since Hoefler does not completely support Vietnamese. The k in the tagline has a descender swash; this variant is available as an option in Hoefler Text. A detailed description of the logo, as well as instructions for "doodling" it, are available in Vietnamese.

In the past, the project used a version by Nohat that bore the tagline Bách khoa tự do (roughly, “free encyclopedia”). The project's original logo was used only briefly before being replaced for aesthetic reasons. Before that, the Vietnamese Wikipedia simply used the English Wikipedia logo; see that logo's history.

Biểu trưng chính thức của Wikipedia tiếng Việt từ ngày 25 tháng 9 năm 2009 đến năm 2010. Cộng đồng Wikipedia tiếng Việt đồng ý thay thế File:Wikipedia-logo-vi, 2005-2009.png bằng biểu trưng này để khắc phục vấn đề khử răng cưa dễ thấy trong các không gian tên không phải chính. Sau đó nó được thay thế bằng File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-vi.svg.

Cả tên và khẩu hiệu “Bách khoa toàn thư mở” dùng phông chữ Hoefler Text (khẩu hiệu ở kích cỡ 13 pt), nhưng các dấu móc và dấu hỏi được vẽ bằng tay, vì Hoefler không hỗ trợ tiếng Việt đầy đủ. Chữ k trong khẩu hiệu có đuôi trượt xuống dưới, kiểu này có sẵn trong Hoefler Text để chọn lấy. Những chi tiết về biểu trưng, cũng như hướng dẫn thiết kế biểu trưng đặc biệt, có sẵn trong tiếng Việt.

Trước đây, dự án sử dụng phiên bản của Nohat với khẩu hiệu cũ “Bách khoa tự do”. Phiên bản đầu tiên chỉ được sử dụng một thời gian ngắn vì hơi xấu. Trước đó, Wikipedia tiếng Việt sử dụng biểu trưng của Wikipedia tiếng Anh; xem lịch sử của biểu trưng đó.
