Il Blues Rock (o rock blues) è un genere di musica rock con forti influenze del blues.[1]
Storia [modifica]
Il blues rock cominciò a svilupparsi come genere originale a sé stante sin dalla metà degli anni '60, attraverso le sonorità di band come i Rolling Stones (che a loro volta traevano spunto da vecchi maestri quali Elmore James, Howlin' Wolf, e Muddy Waters).
Il genere è caratterizzato da improvvisazioni blueseggianti, jam focalizzate sugli assoli di chitarra elettrica spesso un sound "pesante" che riprende il tradizionale Chicago Blues.
Il genere originariamente Britannico, con artisti del calibro di Mayall, forma la base per Free, Savoy Brown e le prime incarnazioni dei Fleetwood Mac, mentre gli americani Johnny Winter, Paul Butterfield ed i Canned Heat ne furono i susseguenti pionieri.
Da questo genere musicale discendono vari movimenti, come l'Hard rock degli anni settanta, ovvero l'estremizzazione del Blues Rock. Molti artisti blues rock saranno spesso categorizzati anche come hard rock.
